Democratic Party Officially Launches the Procedure for Electing a New Leader

The Democratic Party of Albania has officially launched the procedure for electing a new leader, through a decision by the Commission for the Organization and Control of Electoral Operations (KOKOE).

According to the official document dated March 18, 2026, the process begins immediately and clearly defines the deadlines and criteria for candidates. The deadline for submitting applications, along with the required documentation, has been set for April 30, 2026, at 12:00 PM.

The decision stipulates that applicants must submit a written request, an expression of interest, and a CV, while all documentation must be filed with KOKOE.

Among the main criteria for candidates are:

  • They must be members of the Democratic Party with at least 10 years of political and electoral engagement;
  • They must have leadership experience at the national or regional level in the party’s political activities;
  • They must meet the legal integrity criteria in accordance with the legislation in force.

At the end of the document, it is emphasized that the decision enters into force immediately.
