Deputy Prime Minister Koçiu: “After School” program expands to 408 schools

TIRANA, September 1 – The “After School” program will operate in 408 schools across Albania. Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu announced the expansion as the new school year approaches.

The program will offer activities in art, culture, creativity, practical skills and learning. It will cover 117 schools in Tirana, 96 in Korça, 89 in Fier, 55 in Durrës and 51 in Lezha.

Students in grades 1 to 5 will have one hour each weekday to complete their homework. Older students in grades 6 to 9 and 10 to 12 will join creative clubs twice a week. The clubs will include visual arts, music, dance, theatre, crafts and other activities.

Koçiu said teachers and qualified professionals will lead the activities. The program will select them through a transparent, merit-based process. Retired teachers, arts graduates, artisans and other professionals can also participate. The initiative aims to give students more opportunities to develop their skills and interests.
