TIRANA, August 20 – Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu highlighted the growth of Albanian agricultural businesses in international markets. She cited Zdrava Group, an Albanian agro-processing company, as an example of a business that has grown alongside farmers and invested in technology. The company has operated in agro-processing for more than 20 years.
Meanwhile, farmer Xhuljan Doda from Lekaj village in Rrogozhina Municipality has worked with Zdrava Group for 6 years. He said the farm is harvesting tomatoes from 20 hectares this year. Doda expects production for industrial processing to reach 800 to 900 tonnes.
Koçiu said the government supports businesses, farmers and investments that increase the value of Albanian products. Saimir Zdrava, manager of Zdrava Group, said the company exports products including pickles, sauces and jams to 37 countries.
In addition, Zdrava said the company collects around 600 to 700 tonnes of tomatoes from Doda each year. The company processes the tomatoes into tomato concentrate, cooking sauce and tomato juice.
