Deputy Speaker Spahiu visits Arbëresh community in Italy

TIRANA, April 7 – Deputy Speaker of the Albanian Parliament Klodiana Spahiu visited Italy, stopping in Hora e Arbëreshëvet, a key center of the Arbëresh community and Albanian cultural heritage.

During her visit, Spahiu met with the town mayor, Rosario Petta. They discussed ways to strengthen institutional cooperation and preserve cultural and historical ties between Albania and the Arbëresh community.

Spahiu also joined Easter celebrations. The community, alongside Albanians from other countries, observed the holiday following traditions passed down through generations. Ceremonies featured the Albanian language and unique religious rites, showcasing the community’s strong cultural identity.

In her remarks, Spahiu praised the Arbëresh community for maintaining and promoting Albanian heritage. She described their traditions, faith, and language as a cultural treasure that continues to be transmitted across generations.

The visit and participation in the Easter events highlighted the importance of spiritual and cultural links. Spahiu emphasized that deepening cooperation with the Arbëresh community is key to safeguarding Albania’s national identity.
