“Double Your Business” programme backs agribusiness growth

TIRANA, July 29 – The Albanian government is supporting investment in agricultural processing, stronger cooperation with farmers and the expansion of exports through business financing programmes and sector policies.

Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Andis Salla highlighted those priorities during a visit to Fenix, a company in Elbasan that processes olives, olive oil and fish products.

Salla said the company’s investment in modern technology, together with support from the National Scheme, has increased production, created jobs and expanded exports. He added that Fenix, through its Toka brand, now works with more than 100 local farmers and exports its products to the United States, Canada and European markets.

Meanwhile, the minister said the company’s development shows how investment in agricultural processing and agro-industry can add value to domestic production, increase farmers’ income and strengthen the international competitiveness of Albanian products.

In addition, Salla said the government will continue to support businesses that expand production and processing capacity through the Double Your Business programme.

The programme offers loans of up to ALL 200 million, with interest rates ranging from 2% to 3%. It also provides a sovereign guarantee covering up to 70% of the loan risk. Businesses can use the financing for machinery, technology, digitalization, certification and capacity expansion.

The programme has a €250 million fund. Applications remain open until November 20, 2027, through participating commercial banks.
