The Kosovo government approved a €4.27 billion budget for 2027 on Monday. According to the announcement, next year’s budget is €300 million higher than this year’s baseline budget.
Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti announced during the government’s ninth meeting that the draft budget for 2027 provides for an increase in the salary coefficient from €110 to €120, starting July 1 next year.
Kurti also stated that, in addition to this increase, public sector employees will receive a 13th-month salary, which is expected to be paid during the first half of 2027.
“Just like this year, the 2027 budget also provides for a 13th-month salary next year, alongside an increase in the salary coefficient to €120 starting July 1, 2027.
This means that employees will receive their 13th-month salary in the first half of the year, followed by a salary increase in the second half for all employees paid from the state budget,” Kurti stated.
He announced that the total wage budget will reach €1.085 billion. According to Kurti, when distributed among approximately 85,000 public sector employees, this represents an average annual gross salary of more than €12,000.
“This brings the wage budget to €1.085 billion, which, when divided among approximately 85,000 public sector employees, results in an average annual gross salary of over €12,000, or more than €1,000 gross per month. This also means that we will fulfill one of our promises for the next term as early as next year,” Kurti said.
The Prime Minister emphasized that salary increases would not end with this adjustment but would continue in the coming years.
Meanwhile, the budget is expected to be put to a vote in Kosovo’s Parliament.
