TIRANA, May 4 – The Bank of Albania reported that the Economic Sentiment Indicator fell by 1.5 points in April. The bank said weaker confidence in services, trade, and among consumers drove the decline. Despite this drop, the indicator remained 6.4 points above its historical average, signaling a generally positive economic climate.
Meanwhile, industry and construction recorded gains that partly offset the decline. Industry confidence rose by 1.5 percentage points, supported by more optimistic expectations for production and export orders. In addition, construction confidence increased by 4.9 percentage points and stayed about 10.6 points above average, driven by improved assessments of current orders. However, services confidence fell by 1.7 percentage points due to weaker demand and activity, while trade confidence dropped by 3.6 points amid lower sales expectations. At the same time, consumer confidence declined by 3.2 points and remained about 4.5 points below its historical average. The Bank of Albania said the indicator reflects business and consumer expectations and serves as an early signal of economic performance.
