Edi Rama Pays Tribute to Volleyball Legend Kreshnik Tartari

Prime Minister Edi Rama on Sunday honored former volleyball player and coach Kreshnik Tartari and praised his outstanding contribution to Albanian sport.

Rama shared a message on social media after Tartari passed away at the age of 83. He called Tartari a legend of Albanian sport and praised his years of dedication to volleyball.

“Farewell, my dear friend. Rest in peace, Kreshnik Tartari, legend of Albanian sport, champion and creator of champions who proudly challenged Europe in women’s volleyball,” Rama wrote.

Kreshnik Tartari was born in Tirana on July 21, 1943. He spent 55 years in volleyball and played more than 2,000 official matches.

He built a remarkable career as a player, coach and sports official. He also helped shape some of Albanian volleyball’s biggest successes through his work with KS Dinamo Tirana and the national team.

In addition, he trained generations of players and helped Albanian women’s volleyball compete proudly on the European stage. His work strengthened the sport in Albania and inspired many athletes.

His death marks a major loss for Albanian sport. However, his achievements and his contribution to volleyball will continue to inspire future generations.
