Egnatia face Shamrock Rovers in bid for historic comeback

TIRANA, August 13 – Albanian champions Egnatia face Shamrock Rovers tonight in the second leg of the Europa League third qualifying round. The match starts at 21:00 and RTSH will broadcast it live. Egnatia lost the first leg 3-1.

The Rrogozhina side need a victory by at least 2 goals to force extra time. A successful comeback would mark a historic achievement for the club. Egnatia would also secure a Conference League play-off place if they advance.

Meanwhile, a win would set up a Europa League play-off against Norwegian side Lillestrom. If Egnatia lose, they would enter the Conference League play-off round. Their opponent would be the loser of KuPS against Universitatea Craiova.

Coach Nevil Dede is expected to make changes in defence after Arben Xhemajli’s departure. Captain Albano Aleksi could return to the starting lineup.
However, Egnatia will miss forward Bakajoko, who suffered a serious injury in an earlier match.
