Egnatia earned an important 3-1 away victory over Vora in the second week of the Albanian Super League.
The defending champions faced strong pressure from the hosts in the first half. Coach Nevil Dede rested several regular starters after the team’s Europa League clash with Lillestrøm last week.
Vora created several chances and controlled much of the first half. However, neither team found the net before the break. Vora took the lead in the 65th minute through Karrica.
Dede then introduced Gruda, Aleksi, Albanese, Adjessa, and Jago. The changes quickly transformed the match. Egnatia equalized in the 69th minute. Adjessa finished the move to make it 1-1.
Six minutes later, Albanese received the ball on the right. He moved toward the center and fired a precise shot past Harizaj to put Egnatia ahead.
Vora responded and appeared to equalize through Daka in the 72nd minute. However, VAR ruled out the goal for offside. Egnatia sealed the victory in the 85th minute. Jago scored the third goal and secured all three points for the Rrogozhina side.
The result gives Egnatia an important victory in the second round. Vora, meanwhile, suffered another setback after failing to protect its lead. The second round began on August 29 with Partizani’s 2-1 defeat to Laçi and Elbasani’s 1-1 draw with Vllaznia. On Sunday, Teuta beat Tirana 3-1.
The final match of the round will see Skënderbeu face Dinamo City at 21:00 at Elbasan Arena.
