The European Union’s new Ambassador to Albania, Sofia Moreira de Sousa, has held her first official meeting with the head of the Special Prosecution Office, Klodian Braho.
The meeting focused on strengthening the fight against organised crime and high-level corruption, with the aim of consolidating the rule of law in Albania.
In a statement, the EU Delegation in Tirana said that Moreira de Sousa reaffirmed the European Union’s support for an independent and effective SPAK.
“SPAK’s work against organised crime and high-level corruption is essential to strengthening the rule of law in Albania,” the statement said.
Following the meeting, the new EU Ambassador said that support for the Special Prosecution Office would continue in the future.
“In my first meeting with the head of the Special Prosecution Office, Klodian Braho, I reaffirmed the EU’s continued and unwavering support for an independent and effective SPAK,” she said.
According to Moreira de Sousa, tangible results in tackling organised crime and high-level corruption are also important for Albania’s European Union integration process.
