TIRANA, April 17 – European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos said Albania is progressing steadily on its path toward European Union membership. She made the remarks in an interview with BBC.
Kos said Albania continues to advance in its reform agenda as enlargement returns to the European Union’s strategic priorities. She added that candidate countries could join during her mandate if they maintain reform momentum.
The commissioner also referred to other candidates, including Montenegro, Moldova and Ukraine as part of the enlargement process. She noted that Montenegro remains the most advanced among them, while Albania shows consistent progress.
Kos said future enlargement depends on sustained reforms by candidate countries. She indicated that the European Union could admit new members if these efforts continue at the current pace.
