EU enlargement, Hoxha: Albania is ready to join and contribute

Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Ferit Hoxha welcomed European Commissioner Marta Kos’ remarks on the European Union’s preparations for future enlargement. In a post on X, Hoxha said Albania is ready to continue its reforms and work closely with EU member states and the European Commission on an ambitious but realistic roadmap to membership. “Albania is ready. Not only to join the European Union, but also to help shape its future,” he said.

Hoxha stressed that enlargement requires preparation from both sides. Candidate countries must meet the necessary conditions, while the EU must also prepare to welcome new members. He said enlargement is a shared strategic project for Albania that strengthens democracy and improves citizens’ lives while contributing to Europe’s security, competitiveness and democratic resilience.

The minister reaffirmed Albania’s commitment to completing the required reforms and supporting gradual integration through concrete steps. He said enlargement remains central to Europe’s future and can make the continent stronger and more united.
