EU-harmonised inflation in Albania reaches 2.6% in March, driven by transport and food

TIRANA, April 17 – Albania’s annual inflation measured by the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices stood at 2.6% in March. The data follows the methodology of Eurostat and reflects changes in consumer prices.

The Institute of Statistics reported a monthly increase of 0.9% compared with February. Transport led the rise with a 2.8% increase, reflecting higher fuel-related costs. Food and non-alcoholic beverages rose by 0.9%, while restaurants and accommodation services increased by 1.3%.

These categories represent a significant share of household spending and directly affect family budgets. Other sectors, including housing, utilities, health and education, recorded more moderate monthly increases. Furniture and household maintenance prices showed a slight decline of 0.2%.

On an annual basis, food, energy and transport remained the main drivers of inflation. Officials said these components continue to shape overall price trends in the economy.
