The European Union Office in Kosovo has urged all political parties to avoid pressuring the Kosovo Judicial Council (KJC) and its members while they make decisions.
The EU office said in a social media statement that Kosovo and the European Union rely on an independent, impartial, and apolitical judiciary to uphold the rule of law.
“The EU calls on all political parties to refrain from pressuring the Kosovo Judicial Council and its members during decision-making. An independent, impartial, and apolitical judiciary forms the foundation of the rule of law in the European Union and Kosovo,” the office said.
The KJC will discuss the withdrawal of resignations submitted by judges from the Serbian community at its Friday meeting.
The council will review notifications from Serbian community judges and staff members who requested to withdraw their resignations. They submitted their resignations in November 2022.
