TIRANA, May 12 – The European Investment Bank (EIB) and Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Albania signed a 20 million euro financing agreement in Tirana to support Albanian small and medium-sized enterprises in innovation, digitalisation, technology, and green investment.
Roberto Crod, Vice President of the European Investment Bank, and Giuseppe Janpiero, Director of Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Albania, signed the agreement. Prime Minister Edi Rama, Minister of Economy and Innovation Delina Ibrahimaj, and EIB President Nadia Calvino attended the ceremony.
The agreement channels 20 million euros into financing instruments for small and medium-sized enterprises in Albania. It targets investments in innovation, digital transformation, modern technology, and environmentally sustainable projects.
Officials from the European Investment Bank and the Albanian government described the agreement as an important step toward economic modernisation. They linked it to improved competitiveness and closer alignment with European Union standards.
