Ferit Hoxha said the European Parliament’s approval of the progress report for Albania confirmed strong support for the country’s EU membership path.
He stated that the European Parliament also recognized significant progress achieved in key reform areas.
The Parliament adopted the report with a large majority, including 483 votes in favor out of 656 voters, representing nearly 74% support. As a result, Hoxha said the vote reaffirmed strong backing for Albania’s EU accession process.
He added that the decision represents a renewed vote of confidence in Albania’s European future and in the transformation driven by years of reform efforts.
Furthermore, Hoxha said the message from Brussels is clear. He stated that Albania’s European path is advancing and that reform efforts are producing tangible results. In addition, he said the goal of EU membership remains realistic and achievable.
Hoxha also thanked the European Parliament, rapporteur Andreas Schieder, and all those supporting a credible, fair, and merit-based enlargement process.
At the same time, he acknowledged that significant work remains. Therefore, he stressed that accession negotiations must continue through the implementation of necessary reforms to meet EU standards and ensure sustainable transformation.
Finally, he confirmed that Albania remains fully committed to maintaining its reform pace, accelerating negotiations, and aiming to conclude accession talks by 2027, with full EU membership targeted for 2030.
