Eurostat Report: Number of Albanians Returned from EU Countries

More than 8,000 Albanians were returned from European Union countries during 2025. Eurostat data ranks Albania among the countries with the highest number of citizens returned from the EU.

According to Eurostat, 8,020 Albanians were returned from European Union countries following removal orders, placing Albania among the four nationalities with the highest number of returns.

Turkey tops the list with 13,405 returned individuals, followed by Georgia with 10,475 and Syria with 8,370 people.

Overall, during 2025, around 135,460 non-EU citizens were returned to their countries of origin or outside EU territory, representing a 20.9% increase compared to the previous year.

The data also shows that 491,950 third-country nationals received orders to leave European Union countries during 2025, or 5.8% more than in 2024. Meanwhile, 132,600 people were refused entry at the EU’s external borders, an increase of 7.1%.

On the other hand, the number of people found illegally staying within European Union territory decreased by 21.7%, falling from 918,525 cases in 2024 to 719,395 cases during 2025.

According to Eurostat, Germany carried out the highest number of returns, followed by France and Sweden.
