TIRANA, May 11 – Attention shifts to 14 May as the 70th Eurovision Song Contest prepares to take place in Vienna, Austria. Albania competes with Alis and the song “Nan”, aiming for a place in the Grand Final.
Earlier, Alis won first prize at the 64th edition of the Festival of Song at Albanian Radio and Television. He now represents Albania at Eurovision and performs 13th in the second semi-final. Meanwhile, diaspora support becomes decisive, as Eurovision rules do not allow voting from within the participating country for its own entry.
Viewers in participating countries vote during the second semi-final on 14 May using the assigned system and the number 13 for Albania’s entry. In addition, audiences in non-participating countries can vote through the official platform esc.vote.
Eurovision rules allow only the 10 highest-ranked songs from each semi-final to qualify for the final. The result combines public televoting and jury votes. At the same time, Austria hosts the event and participates in voting, alongside France and the United Kingdom.
The “Big 5” group includes France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom, together with the host country. These countries qualify automatically for the Grand Final due to their financial and founding role in the contest.
