Full statement by the Evangelical Brotherhood of Albania:
The Evangelical Brotherhood of Albania has closely followed recent events and supports the right to protest and freedom of expression, but condemns all forms of violence, both that carried out by protesters against institutions and businesses and the unjustified and disproportionate use of police force against citizens.
We call on everyone to exercise restraint, remain calm and act responsibly, so that tensions do not escalate and differences do not turn into even more violent clashes than those witnessed in recent days.
Violence is not a solution, confrontation is not dialogue, and no political interest can be placed above peace and the common good.
We call on state institutions, political parties and civil society to reflect, reduce tensions and find a democratic solution to the situation through dialogue and communication.
We believe that justice, responsibility and peace are the foundations of a healthy society in which the dignity and rights of every citizen are respected.
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.” (Matthew 5:9)
