Ferit Hoxha: Albania Will Not Tolerate Any Threat to Kosovo’s Security

Ferit Hoxha said Albania will not tolerate any violation of Kosovo’s security during his first official visit to Kosovo in his current role. He made the statement during a joint press conference in Prishtina with Kosovo Foreign Minister Glauk Konjufca.

First, Hoxha described Albania and Kosovo as a strategic partnership built on shared history, national interest and a common Euro-Atlantic vision.

He called the visit a unique and emotional moment in his 36-year diplomatic career. Next, he said Kosovo remains an absolute priority in Albania’s foreign policy.

He stressed that developments in Kosovo directly affect Albania as well. In addition, Hoxha called for deeper cooperation and fewer bureaucratic barriers between the two countries.

He also highlighted Kosovo’s democratic progress and said its independence contributes to peace and stability in the region.

At the same time, he urged stronger international support for Kosovo’s integration into institutions such as the Council of Europe and UNESCO.

Furthermore, he emphasized that NATO’s presence and the KFOR mission remain essential for regional security. He stated clearly that Albania will continue its full support within NATO.

Hoxha also referred to recent security incidents, including Banjska and the Iber-Lepenc canal attack, and called for full accountability.

Most importantly, he said Albania will not accept any action that threatens Kosovo’s security.

Finally, he stressed that respecting sovereignty and free elections remains a basic principle of democracy, while urging a successful electoral process and the formation of new institutions in Kosovo.
