“Kosovo is a priority of Albania’s foreign policy,” declared Albania’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ferit Hoxha, in Pristina alongside his counterpart, Glauk Konjufca.
“Kosovo is an absolute priority of our foreign policy. It is a clear and unchanging dimension of the Albanian government and state. What happens in Kosovo is of direct importance to Albania in a mutual and inseparable relationship, because the progress of the Republic of Kosovo and that of Albania go hand in hand. I have come here today to convey what Prime Minister Rama has clearly emphasized: whoever touches Kosovo, touches Albania. We agreed that geopolitical developments in the region and across Europe require a further intensification of intergovernmental and diplomatic coordination,” Hoxha said.
Meanwhile, Konjufca called for the support of the Albanian government in accelerating Kosovo’s membership in NATO.
“We discussed a range of issues that are in our common interest. In these times of global instability, coordination between our states is a vital necessity. We must promote our role as factors of stability in the region. Alongside the Euro-Atlantic integration of the countries in the region, the NATO membership of most states in our region has been a key factor for stability. I asked Minister Hoxha for support in accelerating Kosovo’s accession to NATO,” Konjufca stated.
During his official visit to Kosovo, Minister Hoxha also met with Kosovo’s Acting President, Albulena Haxhiu, and Acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti. His agenda also includes meetings with leaders of political parties. In addition, he will visit the KFOR base, where members of the Albanian Armed Forces contingent are serving as part of the KFOR mission.
