TIRANA, August 31 – Finance Minister Petrit Malaj met regional leaders of the tax and customs administrations to discuss priorities for the coming period. The talks also focused on improving services for citizens and businesses.
Malaj met the general directors of the Tax Administration and Customs Administration. They discussed efforts to fight tax evasion and informality and also reviewed ways to improve relations with taxpayers and businesses.
The minister stressed that stronger controls and higher public revenue must go together with fairness, professionalism and respect for citizens and businesses.
He also said the fight against evasion and informality should not prevent public administration from acting lawfully and treating citizens fairly. At the same time, revenue collection should maintain transparency toward every business and individual contributing to Albania’s economy.
Malaj described “Besa” as the political contract that Prime Minister Edi Rama and the government offer citizens. He said the initiative seeks to rebuild public trust through a more responsive and measurable state.
The minister said better services, transparency and fairness should remain central to the work of the tax and customs administrations. He linked these priorities to efforts to build a more efficient and accountable public administration.
