Fincantieri–KAYO Agreement, Rama: Pashaliman to Become a Center of Excellence for Shipbuilding

Prime Minister Edi Rama was present this Wednesday at the signing of the agreement between Fincantieri and KAYO to produce ships in Albania at the Pashaliman shipyard.

During his speech, Rama described this agreement as an important moment for Albania’s future, emphasizing that it is not only linked to strengthening security and the Armed Forces, but also to economic development and creating opportunities for young people.

“We have reached an important point for the future, not only for Albania’s security apparatus and Armed Forces, but also for the economy and the future of Albania’s youth.
An agreement has been signed with Fincantieri to establish a new company in Albania, Fincantieri Albania, together with our KAYO agency, to produce here in Albania, at the Pashaliman shipyard, vessels that will serve Albanian society as well as the armed forces of allied countries.
What makes this agreement special is that it aims to define a will and a vision to accompany this change with something new, something distinctive, which will certainly create an Italo-Albanian excellence here in our territory, while also serving other shipyards through the innovation it brings.
This agreement also opens the way for a new economic discussion for both companies, as we will be the first to benefit concretely from the products—from the first two ships that will be built for our armed forces—bringing the number of our fleet to seven. This is an optimal number in terms of Albania’s role and responsibilities in the Mediterranean, and then, of course, production will continue for export,” said Rama.
