A fire that broke out around midday on Wednesday in the village of Penkovë, in the Municipality of Selenicë, spread to an auto salvage yard used for storing vehicles for spare parts. The blaze destroyed dozens of vehicles, causing significant material damage.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene and worked to bring the flames under control and prevent the fire from spreading to nearby areas. The cause of the fire remains unknown, and authorities are expected to investigate the incident to determine its origin.
According to the business owner, Tomian Hysaj, the financial damage caused by the fire is estimated at around 3.5 million lek (approximately 35 million old lek). He has called on the Municipality of Selenicë and state institutions to provide support in coping with the losses.
