FM Hoxha meets Bulgarian counterpart, discusses energy and infrastructure cooperation

TIRANA, June 10 – Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Ferit Hoxha arrived in Sofia, where foreign ministers are meeting at the close of Bulgaria’s chairmanship of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) for 2025–2026.

Earlier, Bulgarian Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova received Hoxha for bilateral talks. The meeting reaffirmed the strong partnership between Albania and Bulgaria. In a post on X, Hoxha said the discussions highlighted the need to deepen political dialogue and expand cooperation in key sectors, including energy, infrastructure and strategic connectivity.

Meanwhile, the two ministers underlined the importance of Pan-European transport, Corridor VIII. Hoxha described the project as a vital link between the Adriatic and Black Sea regions. He said the corridor offers significant potential to boost trade, mobility and sustainable economic development across South-East Europe.

In addition, Hoxha said Albania values Bulgaria’s continued support for the country’s European Union membership process and its advocacy for a credible enlargement policy. The minister also noted the role of national minorities in both countries, describing them as bridges of friendship and cooperation.
