TIRANA, August 7 – The Executive Committee of the Albanian Football Federation (FSHF) has approved the participation of Elite Youth Academy teams in the Abissnet Superiore U-16 and U-17 championships for the 2026–2027 and 2027–2028 seasons.
The decision aims to strengthen youth football development and create more opportunities for young Albanian talents. It forms part of FSHF’s long-term strategy to improve youth competitions and prepare future national team players.
Elite Youth Academy will compete with full rights in the elite youth championships. The academy will follow all FSHF regulations and organizational criteria, like every other participating club. All matches will use the points system and will have the same sporting status as other teams’ matches.
During the 2026–2027 season, the academy will compete in the U-16 and U-17 categories with players born in 2011 and 2012. The participation structure for the following season will follow the approved youth championship format.
Meanwhile, Elite Youth Academy will host its matches at the “House of Football”. Player registration, licensing and sporting rights will remain with the respective clubs, in line with current regulations.
FSHF said the decision will raise the competitive level of youth championships. It will also create a stronger environment for developing young players and expand the talent base for Albania’s national teams.
