Foreign minister Hoxha: Public administration undergoing deep transformation toward European Union standards

TIRANA, July 3 – Foreign Minister Ferit Hoxha said Albania’s public administration is undergoing a deep transformation. He linked the process to preparations for European Union membership.

He spoke at the third edition of Public Administration Week. The event carried the theme “Public Service for a European Albania.” He said the strength of a state depends on the quality of its administration. He also underlined the need for a professional civil service. He described it as merit-based and driven by integrity.

Meanwhile, Hoxha said Albania has taken important steps to modernize public administration. However, he stressed that the process has no final endpoint. He said it becomes more demanding as the country moves toward European Union accession.

At the same time, he said membership in the bloc develops step by step. He pointed to political will, strong institutions, and daily work by public officials.

He added that the negotiation process has created a new generation of civil servants. They have gained expertise in European Union law, enlargement methodology, and interinstitutional coordination.
