Foreign Minister reacts to Israel’s treatment of activists: Shocking images

Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Ferit Hoxha reacted on the platform X regarding footage published by Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, showing the treatment of detained flotilla activists.

He described the images as shocking and unacceptable, stressing that all detainees must be treated with dignity and with full respect for human rights, international law, and humanitarian law.

The minister also announced that he has instructed the Albanian Embassy in Tel Aviv to remain in close contact and coordination with Israeli authorities in order to ensure that Albanian citizens receive the necessary consular assistance, as needed and in full accordance with international law.

“The images shared by Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir showing the humiliating treatment of detained flotilla activists are shocking and unacceptable. All detainees must be treated with dignity and with full respect for human rights, international law, and humanitarian law.

I have instructed our Embassy in Tel Aviv to remain in close contact and coordination with the Israeli authorities to ensure that our citizens are provided with the appropriate consular assistance, as needed and in full compliance with international law,” Hoxha wrote.

It is recalled that at least 430 activists from various countries around the world were detained while delivering aid to Gaza through the “Sumud” flotilla, and were accused of terrorism by Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.

A video shared on social media by the minister himself sparked strong international reactions, with officials and institutions condemning the footage showing the treatment of the activists during their detention.
