TIRANA, August 13 – Gjirokastër continues to attract tourists from around the world. Visitors experience the “stone city” through its history, architecture, traditions and hospitality. Prime Minister Edi Rama shared a video featuring tourists from Australia, Sweden, New Zealand, Belgium, the Netherlands and other countries.
Visitors praised the Cold War Tunnel, Ethnographic Museum, Old Bazaar and Old Town. The castle also impressed tourists with its history, architecture and views over Gjirokastër. A visitor from New Zealand said the Old Town was her favourite part of the city. Another tourist highlighted the combination of the castle and New Bazaar. The Ali Pasha Bridge and Zekate House also featured among their favourite attractions.
Meanwhile, gastronomy formed another part of their experience. A Dutch tourist highlighted raki after visiting the city. Albanian visitors from Dibër and Kërçova (North Macedoni) also praised Gjirokastër. One visitor from Zajaz said the city was his favourite destination. He highlighted the castle, views over the Drino River Valley and local architecture.
The visitors’ accounts present Gjirokastër as a destination combining heritage, history, architecture, nature and tradition. Their impressions highlight the city’s appeal to international and regional visitors.
