French Ambassador Suard: France and Albania share a common ambition for a reunited Europe

French Ambassador to Albania Catherine Suard highlighted the strong ties between France and Albania during a reception in Tirana marking France’s National Day.

The event brought together senior Albanian officials, diplomats, media representatives, and civil society members.

Suard reaffirmed France’s support for Albania’s EU integration. She said France believes Albania can continue reforms and complete the accession process quickly.

The ambassador welcomed Albania’s progress in EU negotiations and the closure of the first three chapters. She said France will continue supporting Albania’s European path because both countries share the goal of a united Europe.

Suard described bilateral relations as stronger than ever. She highlighted joint projects, including the French Institute “KubFranceTirana,” Ecole42, Villa 31’s transformation into an international artists’ residence, and the Compiègne University of Technology campus in Tirana.

She also announced that France will open a French Lycée in Korçë in 2027. Suard said the school will strengthen French-Albanian relations and support young people in Albania.

The ambassador highlighted growing economic cooperation. She said France has provided more than €610 million in loans and grants through the French Development Agency since 2020, mainly for energy, environment, and infrastructure projects.

Suard added that France plans to increase investments in renewable energy, tourism, innovation, and defense.

Parliament Speaker Niko Peleshi praised the friendship between the two countries. He highlighted their shared values and cooperation on Albania’s European journey.

Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu also praised the partnership, saying France remains a friend of Albania and a key ally in its EU integration process.
