French media outlet Notre Temps has highlighted Albania as an attractive destination for summer 2027, offering visitors a mix of cultural heritage, mountain scenery and Mediterranean beaches.
The coverage comes as Transavia opens bookings for its summer 2027 flights. The airline plans to launch a new route between Marseille and Tirana on July 11, 2027, giving French travellers another way to discover Albania and the wider Balkans.
Meanwhile, the new connection forms part of Transavia’s expansion across Europe. The airline, which belongs to the Air France-KLM group, has announced four new international routes for 2027: Paris-Orly–Florence, Marseille–Bari, Marseille–Tirana and Nantes–Oslo. It will also continue operating its Nantes–Cairo route during the summer season.
According to Notre Temps, Albania offers an appealing alternative for travellers who want to explore destinations beyond Europe’s traditional tourist routes. The country combines a rich cultural identity, shaped by Mediterranean and Balkan influences, with diverse natural landscapes.
In Tirana, visitors can start their journey at Skanderbeg Square. From there, they can explore historic buildings, museums and lively neighbourhoods that reflect the capital’s history and modern development.
Beyond the capital, Albania offers many other attractions. Berat draws visitors with its traditional houses built along the hillsides, while northern Albania attracts nature lovers with its mountain landscapes and outdoor activities.
Meanwhile, the country’s Mediterranean coastline offers further opportunities for exploration. However, travellers who want to combine Tirana with coastal resorts or mountain destinations should plan their transport carefully and consider road conditions and travel times.
For a more complete experience, Notre Temps recommends spending seven to ten days exploring Tirana and other parts of the country. By planning their itinerary carefully, visitors can discover more destinations while reducing the time spent travelling or changing accommodation.
The French publication also presents several alternatives for summer 2027. Florence appeals to travellers interested in art and architecture, while Bari and the wider Apulia region combine coastal holidays, local cuisine and picturesque villages. In contrast, Oslo offers Nordic scenery and long summer days, while Cairo attracts visitors interested in ancient civilisations and historic monuments.
The new routes will launch at different times. Flights to Florence and Oslo are expected to begin in March 2027, followed by Bari in April. The Marseille–Tirana connection will start in July.
With its cultural heritage, mountain scenery and Mediterranean coastline, Albania is attracting growing attention as an alternative to Europe’s more established tourist destinations. The new air link could further strengthen its appeal among French travellers planning their summer holidays in 2027.
