From UNESCO cities to the Ionian coast: Italian media highlights 15 wonders of Albania, writes ‘Idealista’

TIRANA, July 1 – Italian media outlet “Idealista” has highlighted 15 key destinations across Albania, presenting the country as an increasingly attractive European tourism hub where history, nature, and coastal landscapes meet.

The article notes that Albania combines Roman amphitheatres, Ottoman-era bazaars, and modern urban life within a short travel radius. It also describes how visitors can move within hours from the Adriatic coast to the Ionian Sea, or from Tirana’s cable car to the Blue Eye spring in the south.

According to “Idealista”, the best travel periods are spring and early autumn, when temperatures remain mild and visitor numbers are lower. Meanwhile, summer is ideal for the Albanian Riviera, while winter offers a quieter experience along the coast and colder conditions in the mountains. The report recommends at least seven to ten days for a full itinerary covering UNESCO cities, beaches, and alpine regions.

The list includes major cultural and historical destinations such as Tirana, Shkodër, Berat, Gjirokastër, Korça, and Durrës. It also highlights natural landmarks including the Albanian Alps, Lake Koman, Theth, the Blue Eye, and Llogora National Park. In addition, the article points to archaeological sites such as Apollonia and Butrint as central elements of the country’s heritage.

Coastal destinations such as Vlora, Saranda, and Ksamil are presented as key stops along the Riviera, known for clear waters, small islands, and accessible beaches.

Finally, “Idealista” underlines Albanian cuisine and hospitality as essential parts of the travel experience, alongside practical advice on transport, accessibility, and travel documentation for European visitors.
