Fuel price transparency board discontinued as prices stabilize, Minister of Economy and Innovation says

TIRANA, June 19 – Minister of Economy and Innovation Delina Ibrahimaj said the government has decided to end the Fuel Transparency Board. The mechanism had operated for several months to monitor and regulate fuel prices in the market.

Speaking after the government meeting, Ibrahimaj said the decision followed a period of continuous fuel price declines. She said market conditions have now stabilized.

The minister also linked the decision to international developments affecting energy markets.

Today we decided to discontinue the Transparency Board, which has been operating for several months under the hydrocarbons law,” Ibrahimaj said. “We went through months with significant fluctuations in fuel prices, and for more than two weeks prices have been decreasing. Exchange prices have stabilized. In the geopolitical context, an agreement has been reached and the Strait of Hormuz will be reopened. The situation in the Middle East now has fewer uncertainties, and the hydrocarbons market has stabilized. This is why we decided to end the operation of the fuel board,” she said.

She said the combination of falling prices, improved market stability and reduced geopolitical uncertainty supported the decision to terminate the mechanism.
