Fuel prices fall again, diesel down by 3 ALL, petrol by 1 ALL

TIRANA, May 8 – The Transparency Board decided new reductions in fuel prices in the country. Diesel drops by 3 ALL per litre and will be sold at 193 ALL per litre. Petrol falls by 1 ALL per litre and will be sold at 179 ALL per litre.

The decision takes effect today at 13:30 and remains valid until the next board meeting. Authorities warned market operators to comply with the fixed prices, adding that violations may lead to suspension of activity.

For retail operations, diesel under standard SSH EN 590 is set at a maximum of 193 ALL per litre. Wholesale diesel is capped at 181 ALL per litre. Petrol retail price is set at a maximum of 179 ALL per litre, while wholesale petrol stands at 167 ALL per litre.

In a joint position, the Ministry of Economy and Innovation, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy said they remain committed to protecting consumer interests and ensuring fair competition in the market.

Under the normative act dated 3 April 2026, the board clarified that if retail diesel exceeds 220 ALL per litre or petrol exceeds 200 ALL per litre, the 80% excise level applies. In the current case, prices remain below those thresholds, so the full 100% excise rate applies.
