TIRANA, August 17 – Gjirokastër, known as Albania’s “Stone City,” continues to attract visitors from around the world. Its history, distinctive architecture, traditions and cultural heritage fill its cobbled streets with tourists during the summer season. Visitors from different countries are exploring the city’s historic streets and traditional houses. One Italian tourist said Gjirokastër stood out for its architecture, atmosphere and hospitality after also visiting Vlora.
Another visitor said the lively evening atmosphere and crowded historic streets made her first visit especially enjoyable. She added that a friend had recommended the city. Meanwhile, local businesses report a strong summer season. Administrator Hajri Kashahu said hotels and restaurants are operating well. He also stressed the importance of cultural and entertainment activities for visitors.
According to Kashahu, tourists want more than sightseeing. They also look for evening activities, live performances and opportunities for entertainment. As the summer season continues, Gjirokastër remains lively. The city’s historic character and cultural heritage continue to attract international visitors.
