The Bank of Albania opened the traveling exhibition “Money Tells the Story: 100 Years of Life and Events, Bank of Albania” in Gjirokastër.
The exhibition presents the history of the central bank and the Albanian currency. It showcases numismatic and museum objects, archival documents, photographs, film materials, and explanatory content.
The exhibition marks two major anniversaries. It celebrates 100 years of the central bank (1925–2025). It also marks 100 years since the first issuance of the national currency (1926–2026).
It highlights the role of money and the central bank in Albania’s economic, political, international, and social development over decades.
The opening ceremony included speeches by Altin Tanku, Director of Research at the Bank of Albania. It also included Flamur Golemi, Mayor of Gjirokastër, and Albana Hasani, Prefect of Gjirokastër Region.
Speakers emphasized the importance of institutional cooperation. They stressed initiatives that strengthen public connection with historical heritage and financial education.
The exhibition remains open to the public from April 27 to May 1 at the Gjirokastër Museum inside the Castle. Entry is free.
