Gogu: French Justice Minister Visits Albania, a Signal of Trust in the European Path

The Minister of Justice, Toni Gogu, will welcome French Justice Minister Gérald Darmanin in Tirana today. He said this is the first time a French Justice Minister has visited Albania.

He described the visit as a strong signal of trust in Albania’s European justice reform path. Gogu said the visit comes ahead of the World Justice Congress in Tirana.

He emphasized that cooperation with France is strengthening not only in words, but also in standards, institutions, and governance. He added that this partnership aims to build more reliable institutions for citizens.

The World Justice Congress will be held in Tirana in cooperation with the World Jurist Association and the Ministry of Justice. It will bring together government representatives, international judges, legal experts, and academics from around the world.

The event begins with the awarding of Doctor Honoris Causa titles to prominent legal figures at the University of Arts in Tirana. The official opening session will take place on May 7 at the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet.

High-level guests include leading international legal and justice figures such as Javier Cremades, Viviane Reding, and Angela Montoya. The congress aims to strengthen dialogue on the rule of law and justice reforms globally.
