Gogu Meets Dutch Counterpart in Strasbourg, Focus on Justice Cooperation and Organized Crime

Toni Gogu held talks in Strasbourg today with Dutch Justice Minister David van Weel. The two officials focused on bilateral cooperation in justice and Albania’s European integration process.

Gogu described the Netherlands as a demanding but constructive partner. He said both sides discuss results and concrete projects that help Albania complete its EU membership goal.

Furthermore, the ministers focused on judicial reform, strengthening the rule of law, improving citizens’ access to justice, and expanding legal aid and mediation services. They also addressed cooperation in the fight against organized crime.

Van Weel said the meeting was important and highlighted the strong ties between the two countries. He emphasized that the Netherlands and Albania are NATO allies and that the Netherlands supports Albania’s progress in the EU accession process.

In addition, Van Weel stated that organized crime remains a shared challenge. He confirmed that the justice systems of both countries are working closely together to address it.

Finally, both ministers expressed readiness to deepen cooperation further. They also reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Albania’s goal of completing EU accession within the set timeframe.
