Gogu meets justice institutions’ leaders, highlights sustainability of justice reform as key challenge

Justice Minister Toni Gogu gathered the heads of justice institutions to review the progress of Albania’s justice reform and discuss the challenges ahead in the country’s European integration process.

Gogu said the next 12 months will be crucial for Albania’s EU accession path. He stressed that the main challenge is not only continuing the justice reform but also ensuring its sustainability through measurable results, effective institutions, and stronger cooperation between agencies.

The minister made the remarks during a regular meeting on the implementation of the Intersectoral Justice Strategy, which brought together leaders of justice institutions and the European Union Ambassador to Albania.

Participants reviewed progress under the strategy, discussed the final benchmarks for Chapter 23, and presented the concept of the Justice Barometer.

The discussions focused on achievements so far, remaining challenges, and priorities that require greater commitment from responsible institutions to advance the reform and EU integration process.

Gogu called for stronger institutional cooperation and systematic monitoring of objectives. He emphasized that citizens will increasingly measure the success of the reform through concrete results, stronger rule of law, and greater trust in institutions.

The minister concluded that meeting the final reform benchmarks remains a shared institutional responsibility and a key condition for successfully closing negotiation chapters and moving Albania closer to full EU membership.
