Albania’s audiovisual industry is taking an important step toward integration into the international market.
Tourism, Culture and Sports Minister Blendi Gonxhja said Albania is moving toward approving the Council of Europe Convention on Co-production of Audiovisual Works in the Form of Series.
The convention will create a common legal framework for safer and more equal cooperation between Albanian producers and European partners.
Once approved, the convention will open new opportunities for Albanian television series. Local producers will be able to work with European companies under unified rules and international standards.
The agreement will also create more opportunities for Albanian screenwriters, directors, actors, and technical crews to take part in international productions.
In addition, the convention will facilitate the distribution of Albanian productions in European and wider international markets.
The move comes as the National Center of Cinematography plans to introduce new funding schemes for television series.
Together, the new financial support and the convention’s legal framework could help create new audiovisual projects and strengthen Albania’s film and television industry.
