Gonzato: Speculation exists, but no block in Albania’s EU integration

EU Ambassador to Albania Silvio Gonzato spoke to Euronews Albania. He said Albania’s EU integration continues normally. He rejected claims of a block. He called them speculation.

Gonzato said member states hold regular discussions. They follow standard EU procedures. They conduct them confidentially.

He addressed reports about countries with reservations. He called them rushed interpretations. He said the process seeks consensus. Meetings aim to build that consensus.

Gonzato explained discussions in COELA. Member states review Commission assessments. They request clarifications. He said many speculations surround the talks. He stressed that negotiations remain confidential.

He said ongoing meetings show the process is active. Another meeting is already planned. He said this means negotiations continue. He repeated that there is no block.

Gonzato said discussions do not signal division. Member states analyze progress. They ask questions. They later adopt a common position. They ensure reforms remain sustainable and irreversible.

He also addressed separation from other countries. He said he has no information about such a move. He said the process is merit-based. Each country advances on its own performance.

Gonzato concluded that Albania has made significant progress. He said integration depends on reforms. He said partners will continue evaluations.
