Government adopts unified rules for public space management across Albania

TIRANA, April 1 – State Minister for Local Government Ervin Demo announced the approval of new rules for the use of public spaces. He said the regulation aims to support business development while addressing issues that limit public access for citizens.

Demo said the rules create statewide standards for how public spaces will be used. Municipalities will apply specific conditions based on local needs. He stressed that the framework will improve management and create a new platform for organizing public space use across the country.

The minister also addressed the “Mountain Package,” noting that four municipalities have approved priority areas. These include Kuçova, Saranda, Gramsh, and Tropoja. He said applications have exceeded 500 nationwide, with more municipalities expected to define priority zones for local economic development.

Demo also spoke about the territorial reform. He said officials reviewed different models during a recent working group meeting. He confirmed that no final position exists yet. He added that institutions continue to analyze options, while the process moves forward with broad support in principle.
