Government advances redevelopment of Selman Stërmasi stadium in Tirana

TIRANA, April 24 – The government approved legal changes to move forward with the redevelopment of the Selman Stërmasi stadium in Tirana.

The revised decision expands the role of the Albanian Investment Corporation, which will act as project developer through partnership contracts. The model allows the corporation to work with third parties on building a complex that combines sports facilities with commercial space.

The changes also extend the project scope to include both public and private land. Authorities tasked the corporation with consolidating property titles where differences exist between registered ownership and actual land use around the stadium.

Several institutions will support implementation, including the Ministry of Economy and Innovation, the State Cadastre Agency and the Municipality of Tirana. The move follows an initial property transfer in December 2024 and signals progress toward technical planning and investor selection.
