TIRANA, July 10 – The Albanian government has launched the Urban Renaissance 2.0 programme, a new initiative that aims to transform communities, support local economic growth and strengthen cooperation between central and local government.
State Minister for Local Government Ervin Demo described the programme as an ambitious plan designed to address structural challenges that have affected the country over the past 35 years.
According to Demo, the initiative also has a strong economic focus. It seeks to improve infrastructure and create better conditions for sustainable growth, particularly in tourism and local economies.
Meanwhile, the minister said the programme is built around 11 key pillars that will guide its implementation across Albania. He added that the initiative brings together several government portfolios and reflects close cooperation among ministries.
Demo thanked the ministers involved in preparing the programme. He also praised Prime Minister Edi Rama for providing the vision and strategic direction behind the initiative.
The minister said the first pillar focuses on local identity museums. He explained that every municipality has its own history and should transform that heritage into a valuable cultural experience for residents and visitors.
He added that the rapid growth of tourism requires stronger local support and a more competitive cultural offer. In this context, museums will play an important role in promoting local identity and enriching the visitor experience.
