Government plans four-pillar package to support up to 16,000 young people

Albania is preparing a new package to support young people through employment, housing, education and greater transparency, Deputy Minister of Economy and Innovation Olta Manjani said.

The package initially aims to reach 10,000 young people, with the number potentially rising to 16,000. It includes expanding employment support to 5,000 young people before and during their studies.

Housing measures would offer zero-interest loans to young professionals and loans at 3% interest to young families. The plan also proposes minimum reference salaries based on educational attainment and a stronger legal framework for youth employment.

The government expects to allocate an additional €26–27 million annually to implement the package.

Commenting on youth protests, Manjani stressed that young people have the right to express their views. She called for dialogue and representative channels through which young people can take part in discussions about their future.
