Prime Minister Edi Rama shared images of the ongoing urban rehabilitation of the historic center of Pogradec, highlighting the visible transformation after restoration and infrastructure works.
The project improves key urban areas, especially Naim Frashëri Street. Previously, the area showed damaged pavement and degradation. Now, it displays a renewed and well-organized public space.
Moreover, the restoration project is implemented by the Albanian Development Fund in cooperation with the Municipality of Pogradec. It aims to revitalize one of the city’s most culturally important zones.
In addition, the works include restoring traditional buildings, upgrading public squares, and creating thematic walking routes. As a result, the city strengthens its cultural identity and urban functionality.
Furthermore, the project covers two historic neighborhoods, “Naim Frashëri” and “Lagjja e Burimeve.” These areas represent the early core of the city due to their natural water sources and historical development.
At the same time, the intervention focuses on preserving traditional architecture and stone-paved streets. Therefore, it protects the historical character of Pogradec while modernizing infrastructure.
Currently, workers have completed around 80% of the project. They expect full completion by October 2026.
Finally, the project aims to boost tourism, support local businesses, and improve living conditions. As a result, the historic center will become a stronger cultural and tourist destination.
