TIRANA, June 18 – State Police Director General Skënder Hita met Italian police officials in Tirana. The delegation included Lorenzo Bucossi, Director of the International Police Cooperation Service, and Marco Cali, Director of the Central Operational Service of the Italian State Police.
During the meeting, both sides praised the high level of cooperation between Albanian and Italian police authorities. They highlighted results in the fight against organized crime, drug trafficking, money laundering, and the capture of internationally wanted individuals.
Meanwhile, the participants gave special attention to joint investigative teams. Albanian police operate the highest number of such teams with Italian authorities. Both sides described this as a sign of mutual trust and effective cooperation.
In addition, the meeting reviewed cooperation in aerial monitoring and operations against the cultivation of narcotic plants. The participants noted that this model has produced tangible results and gained recognition from international partners.
Hita expressed appreciation for the continued support provided by Italian authorities. He highlighted assistance in operational activities and professional capacity building.
At the same time, both sides praised Italian support for the Security Academy. The cooperation includes the use of Italian professional literature in training programmes and the exchange of experience and best practices in police education.
Finally, the participants reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership. They also supported greater information exchange and new joint initiatives to address international security challenges.
