Albanian Foreign Minister Ferit Hoxha said Albania’s security cooperation with Croatia aims to strengthen regional peace and should not concern any country.
Hoxha made the remarks after meeting Croatian Foreign and European Affairs Minister Gordan Grlić Radman in Tirana. The two ministers agreed that the European future of the Western Balkans depends on merit and the fulfilment of EU standards.
Hoxha also stressed the importance of the EU-facilitated dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia. He said the process remains essential for normalising relations, strengthening peace, and advancing the region’s European future.
He warned that reconciliation cannot be built on historical revisionism, the denial of facts, or nationalist rhetoric.
“Europe’s future cannot be built by returning to the conflicts of the past. We must face history responsibly and build relations based on respect, trust, and cooperation,” Hoxha said.
He also highlighted the role of Albania and Croatia as NATO allies. He said both countries actively contribute to regional and international security through KFOR in Kosovo and EUFOR ALTHEA in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“Our bilateral and trilateral cooperation should not worry anyone. No one should use it to justify militarisation or fuel regional tensions,” Hoxha said.
He added that Albania will continue to support dialogue, regional cooperation, and economic integration through the Common Regional Market.
Finally, Hoxha reaffirmed Albania’s commitment to a peaceful, stable, and prosperous Western Balkans. He described Croatia as a reliable and important partner in Albania’s path toward the European Union.
