Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Ferit Hoxha said that Albania has entered a decisive phase in the process of joining the European Union.
Hoxha attended the informal meeting of Ministers for European Affairs in Dublin, where discussions focused on EU enlargement, reforms, and strengthening administrative capacities.
The minister stressed that Albania must maintain the pace of reforms and the momentum of negotiations, while calling for greater coordination with the structures of the European Commission.
“Strong political will is essential. We are making progress on every issue, in every sector, and through every reform,” Hoxha said.
He acknowledged that strengthening the rule of law, waste and water management, air quality, environmental infrastructure, and food safety continue to pose challenges.
“These challenges require strong coordination, long-term commitment, and significant investment. Our cooperation must become more operational, more concrete, and more sustainable,” the minister said.
Hoxha also called for Albanian experts to work more closely with the European Commission’s structures and working processes, with the aim of strengthening administrative capacities and gaining a better understanding of how EU institutions operate.
“Our ambition is clear, our work plans are realistic, and our determination is strong. We will continue to deliver results, and we expect the same level of commitment from the European Union,” Hoxha concluded.
